James J. McDonald Jr.

James McDonald is an Associate Consultant and Technical Advisor with Process Partners. James brings over 12 years experience in IT management, operations management, technology and process consulting, and Procurement program management. As a Procurement specialist, management professional and consultant, James leverages his experience in the use of best practices to provide clients of Process Partners, LLC with guidance on streamlining source-to-pay processes, integrating systems and suppliers, and maximizing savings through the use of key process controls and tools. James has significant SAP implementation experience.

James holds the position of Director of Procurement Operations at the world's largest financial services company. In this position, he is responsible for the oversight of all programs and processes that manage how the company purchases and pays for over $800M in indirect spend in the U.S. James' teams are responsible for supporting these processes and tools for their internal customers and suppliers. His role includes setting the strategic direction of Procurement operations as well as managing the tactical operations to allow his programs to be successful.

James' key accomplishments in this role include :
  • Participating in the original implementation of eProcurement software to manage the procure-to-pay process for $800M in annual spend.
  • " Co-leading the growth of a Purchasing Card program to accommodate over $70M in spend resulting in the significant reduction of Accounts Payable resources and revenue in the form of provider rebate.

    • Served as a conference speaker in 2008 as a leader and advisor on program growth strategies.

  • Managing a Six Sigma project as a Six Sigma Black Belt to resolve the lack of compliance with critical purchasing processes and achieved over 80% compliance with processes resulting in significant cost avoidance and savings.
  • Advising operations in Canada, Mexico and Europe as an expert in Procurement best practices. Currently presenting the business case for the implementation of the purchasing card in Europe which could achieve pioneer status in that region.
Prior to this role, James was a manager in the corporate Information Technology group as well as an IT consultant with Deloitte Consulting. He has served as a certified Ariba and SAP consultant involved in over eight major implementations. His analytical and problem solving skills from his past as a business analyst, his project management skills from his work as both an IT project manager and Six Sigma Black Belt, as well as his experience as a manager of operations provides James with a wealth of experience and skills to provide consulting advice from project and business perspective.

James received a BS in Management Information Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business.
